History:
Officially "U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, Model of 1917", it was an American modification
of the British Pattern 14 rifle design. Due to a shortage of Springfield Rifles,
the P17 was mass-produced and ended up arming roughly 75% of the American
Expeditionary Force by war's end, becoming the most numerous U.S. combat rifle
of the war.
